Srinagar, Dec 24 (GNS): President of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and member parliament Farooq Abdullah on Thursday demanded restoration of 4G internet services in Jammu and Kashmir forthwith even as he asked government not to detain people without reason for “democracy to survive.”
Responding to a question by reporters that if PAGD “would work together hereafter also”, Farooq said that “Absolutely. We are united and will continue to be united.”
“Why do have doubts about it. You try to create doubts,” Farooq said even as Muzaffar Shah, ANC vice president seconded him by saying: “it (PAGD) is much stronger than it was at the start.”
“Don’t put any such things,” Farooq continues as per GNS correspondent who was present as PAGD members talked to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting called after amalgam’s good performance in the DDC polls.
“ We are united and we will continue to be united for what this peoples declaration stands for. Let’s hope that you all have pleasant stay in the tragedy of season –chilain kalan. I hope there is electricity and water for the people for which we have suffered for ages for lack of this,” he said, adding, “We hope that government will look into that urgently.”
Also. He said: “We request the government that 4G should be restored immediately. This is unfortunate that people of this state, our children, students, are suffering as they have to be online for everything. Our businessmen are suffering.”
Farooq, who is president of National Conference, said that he requested the (lieutenant governor) regarding it during the inauguration of a hospital in Budgam.
“I told him that PM is talking about 5G and we even don’t have 4G. It should be restored as quickly as possible,” he said, adding, “Those people who are held up in thanas (police station) for no rhyme or reason must be released if you want democracy to survive.” (GNS)
